Summer 2011
Scope's Summer 2011 brings a kaleidoscope of heavenly looks, shapes and textures.
We've embraced a few key themes including Vintage Grunge, Studio Art, Moody Nature and Bongo Bakongo .
Our Vintage Grunge focuses on beautiful, feminine prints and styles layered in a casual, carefree almost abandoned way which, when teamed back with washed down denim pants, give added attitude. Sweet cardigans and tops are decorated with feminine details like ruffled necklines and poet billowed sleeves. Vintage inspired dresses in sheers are the focus here and hemlines around the knee evoke the early 1990's grunge style. Our summer trench coat has a feminine cut with a slim, fitted bodice enabling it to be worn equally as a dress.
Studio Art is about authentic, sturdy fabrics and looks - natural linens, cottons and a dotting of ponti. Its about 'simple, timeless shape and comfort'. Our dress and top silhouettes are fashioned into cropped and boxy in one instance, naturally waisted in another. Flared linen pants that are tailored, timeless and flattering can be worn for any occasion fitting perfectly in this category.
Moody Nature is inspired by the greys of a cloudy sky, the eroded surfaces of pebbles and imitations of rough bark and swirling lava. Our woven top with embelishment includes lighter tones of stone and ice blue giving an ethereal look to the trend. Slim fitting pants/shorts make for a lean silhouette as do leggings. Our banded hem and neckline dresses are a crucial part of this look. Disparate fabrics like mesh and dry rayon elastane help create the textures so true of this theme.
Our Bongo Bakongo story is a bend to an African beat. Here a printed, flattering dress, skirt and top borrow the markings and colours from the beauty of butterfly wings, bugs and reptiles while another printed, beaded skirt flaunts the iridescent greens of lush bamboo reeds and fauna. Finally the camouflage tribal print used on an easy fit wide legged pant, top and dress depict the deep brown and black of jungle reptiles.
